The transition to working an eight hour day in an office cubicle does not have to be challenging. There are many tips and guidelines that can be incorporated into your average work day to help make the work and internship experience more enjoyable and productive. I find it much easier to work efficiently when you have a clean and organized workspace, this way, you always know where things are and can access them more easily. One thing I like to do is keep a calendar on my desk with important event dates, project due dates, etc. in order to plan and allocate my work time accordingly.
In terms of office etiquette, it is important to dress for success and carry yourself in a professional manner. You want to give off a good vibe about yourself to the employees and demonstrate that you are a hard worker and a valuable member of the team. Throughout the course of my internship, I have really tried to reach out to the other employees at the office to try to learn more about them. It is always beneficial to network and it can help improve general office cohesion.
Although these tips may not seem like the most important aspects of the average work day, it is the little things that make a difference and help ensure a pleasant and successful work experience!
